What kind of graduate school is The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics?
The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) is a professional graduate school approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.As Japan's first professional IT graduate school, KCGI opened its doors in April 2004.Those who complete the course will be awarded a Master's degree in Information Technology (Professional).Professional graduate schools were a newly established educational system that was launched in FY2003 by the revised School Education Law with the goal of fostering highly-specialized professionals.

There are many people who are studying while working full-time jobs at our school.There are students who will take a leave of absence from school due to their workload.The leave period is semi-annual and up to 2 years in total.

Is the admission period only in April?
We accept students for April and October admissions.
Application Eligibility
Are undergraduate graduates whose backgrounds are unrelated to IT eligible to take the entrance exam?
Our school accepts students from a wide range of fields, including both humanities and sciences.There are also many people who come from a liberal arts background.As part of our admissions policy, just like professional schools in the USA we accept students from various backgrounds.
I will graduate from an IT school in March this year.Am I eligible to apply?
As a general rule, those who have graduated from a 4-year university or graduated from a 4-year department at a vocational school approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) are eligible to apply.Other applicants will be eligible to apply if they are recognized by the university's screening process as having scholastic ability equivalent to or higher than that of university graduates, and if they are 22 years old as of April 1 of the year of admission.
After graduating from a three-year vocational school, I have been engaged in IT-related work for three years.Can I apply?
Those who pass the entrance examination are eligible to apply.In addition, if you have more than 2 years of work experience, you can take the entrance exam using a special selection system for working adults.
Can international students apply?
International students who meet the eligibility requirements are eligible to apply.For international students, the documents to be submitted are different, so please obtain the international student recruitment guidelines and submit the required documents.
Is there an upper age limit?
As a general rule while there is no age limit, you are eligible to apply if you are over 22 years of age.Some people have enrolled after retirement.
Entrance Exams
What is the entrance exam like?
The entrance exam will be conducted based on the submitted application documents (school transcripts, self-introduction/motivation, essay, etc.) followed by an interview and oral exam.The oral exam will be conducted in accordance with areas of common knowledge and the candidate's subject area.

What will be included in the entrance exam?
The entrance screening examines if the applicant possesses the academic ability equivalent to or higher than university graduates.Please submit all required documents for admission screening to our Admissions Office at least 2 weeks before the entrance exam.There are two types of entrance exams: English essay and oral exam.
Non-Degree Students and Auditors
What is the course registration system?
The course registration system allows you to select only the courses that are necessary for you from among the courses offered.Students can take a completion test for each course and earn designated credits by passing a test.In addition, a degree can be obtained if the total number of credits earned fulfills the required amount eligible for completion.Non-degree students can register for courses per semester (half a year), and can opt to extend their enrollment period after completing necessary procedures.
What is the difference between a non-degree student and an auditor?
Non-degree students can earn credits. Auditors can attend course lectures but cannot earn credits.

I am busy and can only go to school two days a week.Can I still complete my studies?
For students working full-time jobs, we have established a “long-term student system” that allows students to extend their study period and enroll in a planned manner by applying in advance.If your application is approved, you can complete the course with the tuition fee for two years regardless of the duration of the course.
Is it possible to complete the entire 2 years worth of courses if I can only study on weekday nights or Saturdays and Sundays?
It is not possible to complete only on weekday nights and on Saturdays and Sundays. It is possible to complete with some additional e-learning (e.g. in evenings).
About Class Content
Can I still keep up with classes even if I can't speak English?
Our school has many teachers of foreign nationalities with some classes conducted in English. The aim is to develop the ability to read and write using electronic dictionaries, placing more emphasis on reading comprehension and composition than English conversation.English classes will be offered with a Japanese interpreter.
Is it possible to select multiple career enhancement courses?
No, it is not possible.You can select one of the courses out of the available options.
About SAP
Can SAP ERP be used on Saturdays and Sundays?
SAP ERP can be accessed from home, so you can study on Saturdays and Sundays.
What are the classes for SAP consultant certification?
Lectures and practical training classes will be conducted with very similar content with the academy course provided by SAP.We offer three certification preparatory courses for business process integration, financial accounting (FI), and sales logistics (SD).

What are the forms of satellite career enhancement courses?
As a general rule, the practitioner-teachers of the Satellite Campuses will be in charge of the courses

Can I take the same courses as Kyoto Main Campus?
