Highlights of The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics

  1. As for recruitment of prospective students, we consider individuals from various fields in the arts and sciences, regardless of their specialization. We take flexibility of the curriculum into full account in order to deal with students from various backgrounds.

  2. To focus on the development of business networks among KCGI alumni, we aim to produce a wide variety of graduates who share the same key word, "IT."

  3. In order to respond to the rapidly-changing IT field and the needs of the industry, we consult external experts regarding curriculum and course implementation as well as instructional design.
  4. Each course is designed for students to utilize case studies, discussions, field studies, practicum, to supplement the lectures and projects. In particular, we emphasize team projects and foster students' creativity and practical skills which enable them to meet the needs of the times.

  5. Our faculty members do not only come from the science and technology fields, but we also have academic experts who specialize in various areas of the arts and sciences as well as experienced business experts who have been working in the front lines of the industry.

  6. We emphasize flexibility of classroom formats and utilize face-to-face classes together with an e-learning environment conducive for class discussions.

  7. With the cooperation of Rochester Institute of Technology on technical aspects, we import and co-develop a curriculum with the latest developments in IT and computing. With respect to management and educational aspects, the strong backup from faculty members of Columbia University enables us to set our goal in becoming one of the world's most-advanced IT educational institutions.
