School Philosophy:
The objective of our school is to train information technology professionals with strong practical knowledge of the current real business practices, a solid theoretical background, and a creative and innovative spirit which will enable them to meet the demands of society and to be responsible for the current and future generation.
Contents of Education:
Graduates of this program are engineers and chief information officers with strong information technology and international business administration skills, with a specialization in e-Business. The courses will be customized for Japanese corporations and culture, and they will be planned based on the revised version of the Masters Course Curriculum of Information System (IS) in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
Feature:
The Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) is the first computer educational institution in Japan founded in 1963. 40 years later, the KCG founders, professors, instructors and other staff established the new independent graduate school based on their experience in managing and administering their joint masters program with the Rochester Institute of Technology, and their close collaborative relationship with prominent universities and professors in the United States. We are inviting several instructors with extensive corporate information technology business experience, who join us in creatively delivering a corporate-driven pragmatic education in information technology. We will make use of various adult learning concepts and standards such as the principles behind inclusive horizontal labor specialization, learner-oriented instructional design, and constructivist learning, within a high-tech computing environment with a high speed network and web based training capabilities.
External Condition:
Many corporate chief information officer programs and professional masters programs to train IT engineers for the business world have been established at universities and colleges in other countries such as the United States. The demands for human resources with these skills are quite high in the industrial world. However, there is almost no graduate school or department whose main major is web-business or (e-business) in Japan. Since the concept of a "Senmonshoku Daigakuin (professional school within graduate school)" is officially enshrined into law, professional schools with the same or even higher quality than ones in the United States are now in high demand in Japan.
