In the spring of 2009, Dr. Hiroshi Sugawara, honorary president (first generation) of Kyoto University of Information Sciences (KCGI), received the “Akira Zuiho Chusho”.Prof. Sugawara was appointed president of KCGI, Japan's first IT professional graduate school, in April 2004.Since then, he has served as the President until March 2008.
Among the medals, the “Zuihosho” is given to those who have been engaged in public affairs for many years and have accumulated their merits.Prof. Sugawara is a graduate of the Kyoto University Faculty of Engineering and a Ph.D.He is an emeritus professor at Kyoto University and has served as president of the Information Processing Society of Japan and a member of the Japan Science Council.In the Kyoto Computer Gakuin Group, he served as the director of the Institute of Informatics and the director of the Kyoto Information Academy.
