メッセージ

図書館はどのような団体・組織においても重要な機構です。例えば,町の図書館や大学の図書館などを考えたらよいでしょう。図書館があるので,人々はクリエイティブな仕事ができ,新しい発見ができるのです。図書館はまた,重要な研究手法や情報技術を展開し,それらを強化出来る場所でもあります。私が図書館で仕事をする際に重要視するのは,私が所属するコミュニティのニーズを十分理解し,そのコミュニティの人々の従事している種々の仕事を成功に導くためのお手伝いすることです。そのためには,図書館をコミュニティにおいて戦略的に位置づけ,公平さを核心とすれば,図書館の成功もその利用者の成功も保証されるでしょう。私自身の教育・研究はこのような哲学に基づいています。
