The 24th Research and Presentation Conference of the Japan Society of Tourism Information was held on October 21-22, 2023, at the Kyoto Station Satellite of Kyoto Computer Guraduate Institute (KCGI) to explore the possibilities for further development of the tourism industry.
KCGI has established "Tourism IT" as one of the specialized fields, where students learn to create new tourism services and tourism business models by applying ICT.In addition to the conference members, many students studying tourism IT at KCGI/KCG also participated in the conference.
Ms. Doi and Mr. Kumagai participated in the ChatGPT/Generative AI Workshop held by the KCG Group in June.Under the theme of tourism IT, we proposed a new business model that transforms "mobility" into "experience" by utilizing ChatGPT and generative AI, which are expected to be available 10 years from now.The content was further deepened under the guidance of Assistant Professor Xu Cheng KCGI, and was presented on this day as "From movement to sightseeing experience, innovation by providing AR/VR contents from the train window.To make effective use of the long travel time during sightseeing, the system transformed the car window into a transparent display, transforming it into a sightseeing experience, such as viewing contents while traveling or gathering information through an AI guide, which attracted a lot of attention from the participants.
In addition to a special lecture by Mr. Takuya Horie of the Planning and Promotion Division of the Kyoto City Tourism Association on "Efforts of Kyoto DMO," there were many presentations on the application of ICT to tourism, including the use of virtual reality, tourism DX, and generative AI.
