The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) and Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) will be exhibiting at e-Learning World 2009 again this year.We look forward to seeing many of you there.Alumni of the University are also welcome to attend.
A reception for alumni (KCGI/KCG alumni, students, faculty, and staff) will be held on Friday, August 7, near Oimachi Station.Alumni are cordially invited to attend.

Information" Classroom Support Seminar for School Teachers

TUAT has conducted seminars and other activities to support high school teachers.Based on these achievements, the following program has been adopted this year by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) as a training program for improving the teaching ability of science and mathematics teachers, continuing on from the previous year.We will hold a seminar to support "Information" classes as follows.We look forward to your participation.We would be happy to inform interested teachers.

World Year of Astronomy Nationwide Simultaneous Tanabata Lecture" will be held on July 7 (Tue.)

World Year of Astronomy 2009

This year is the World Year of Astronomy, the year of the total solar eclipse, and many astronomy-related events are being planned around the world.

As a part of this global excitement, the "World Year of Astronomy Nationwide Simultaneous Tanabata Lectures" will be held around July 7 at about 100 universities, science museums, and other venues throughout Japan.

Open Source Conference 2009 Kansai

On July 10 and 11, 2009, the Open Source Conference Kansai Region will be held under the co-sponsorship of TUAT, following last year.The Open Source Conference is an event with more than 20 sponsors and more than 30 groups scheduled to participate.It will consist of exhibits by the open source community, companies and organizations, and seminars providing the latest information on open source.We look forward to your participation.

Professors Wataru Hasegawa and Hongsung Ko appointed as advisory board members of the Jeju Knowledge Industry Promotion Agency, and President Kim In-hwan of the Jeju Knowledge Industry Promotion Agency appointed as a visiting professor at TMDU

On May 6, 2009 (Wednesday), an advisory committee appointment ceremony was held for Prof. Wataru Hasegawa and Prof. Noboru Takahiro at The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics in Jeju, Korea.On the same day, Dr. Kim In-hwan, President of the Jeju Knowledge Industry Promotion Agency, was appointed as a visiting professor at the University.

Measures (e-learning support) in response to the spread of the new influenza pandemic

Dear Students

Due to the confirmation of a new strain of influenza in Kyoto City on Thursday, May 21, Kyoto Prefecture and Kyoto City have requested that all schools be closed.The University will take measures to suspend attendance at school for classes, rather than canceling or suspending classes.

From Friday, May 22 to Wednesday, May 27, classes will be conducted via e-learning.Please note that each instructor has a different way of teaching using the Blackboard learning system.

Response to H1N1 Influenza

Dear Students

On April 29, the World Health Organization (WHO) raised the alert status of a new influenza pandemic from "Phase 4" to "Phase 5.

The kcg.edu group is committed to collecting information and will take necessary actions based on the decisions of WHO and the competent ministries.

At this time (May 1), we would like to alert you to the following, and ask for your cooperation.

If the situation changes in the future, information will be communicated to you via the University's website and campus portal, etc., as necessary.

KCGI's first president, Hiroshi Hagiwara, received the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon.

Dr. Hiroshi Hagiwara, the first president emeritus of The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI), received the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon at the 2009 Spring Conferment of Decoration.Dr. Hagiwara became president of KCGI, Japan's first IT professional graduate school, at the same time it opened in April 2004.Since then, he served as President until March 2008.

The 2009 entrance ceremony for the The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) and Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) was held on Saturday, April 11, at the Kyoto Ekimae Satellite, welcoming many students who will become future IT industry leaders.The representative of the new students made a strong pledge: "With dreams and high aspirations, I will persevere in my efforts and take on the challenge of building a new information society.
