KCGI Alumni Reception Held to Celebrate the University's 10th Anniversary

The "KCGI Alumni Reception for the 10th Anniversary of the University" was held on January 9, 2012 at the 6th floor lounge of KCG Kyoto Ekimae Campus.Many alumni and current students participated in the event, which was a great success.

First, Prof. Wataru Hasegawa reported on the opening of the Sapporo Satellite, and the meeting started with a toast.

In the middle of the meeting, alumni reported on their current activities one by one.Following this, current students also expressed their aspirations for the future and received various advice from alumni.

Sapporo satellite opened in April

The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) opened “Sapporo Satellite” in Sapporo, Hokkaido on April 1, 2012, and began education for the development of top leaders in the IT application field in Hokkaido.We have already notified the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.We will begin recruiting students from a wide range of fields, including working professionals, regardless of whether they come from arts or science backgrounds.

Obituary: Dr. Toshiharu Hasegawa

Dr. Toshiharu Hasegawa, the second president of Kyoto Institute of Information Science and a world authority on operations research, passed away on November 28.He was 77 years old.He has made significant contributions not only in the field of operations research, but also in the fields of systems engineering, communication methods, and road traffic control, and has contributed greatly to the development of education at the University.We extend our deepest condolences.

The wake and funeral were held in secret, with only family members present.

KCGI is a great success!Basketball 5th place, Table Tennis 3rd place - Kyoto International Student Athletic Festival

The 6th Kyoto International Students Sports Festival was held at the Kyoto Prefectural Gymnasium on Saturday, November 19, and the Chinese students from KCGI who participated in the festival did very well, placing 5th in basketball and Jian Jiao in the individual table tennis competition.Congratulations!

Tokyo Alumni Reception Held on November 20

On the evening of November 20, 2011, the Tokyo Alumni Reception was held in Akihabara, Tokyo.Not only KCGI and KCG graduates but also current students participated and had a very meaningful time.I was very happy to hear that the graduates currently residing in Tokyo and Kanto are active in their respective fields.We lost track of time and reminisced.

Faculty members who attended the reception exhibited at the e-Learning Awards 2011 Forum on the following day, the 21st.
