The new coronavirus epidemic has had a major impact on the lives of people around the world. What kind of society will the post-corona society be? No one can predict exactly, but what we can say with certainty is that in a post-corona society, not only will telework become more widespread, but the digitization of socioeconomic activities will also progress further. What is particularly noteworthy is that from 2016 to 2017, before the outbreak of the new coronavirus, Alpha Go, which utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) developed by Google DeepMind, surprised people around the world by winning against the world's top professionals one after another.This was the start of the third AI boom.In addition, there has been a remarkable development in AI technology, such as deep learning and automated driving technology.In the post-Corona era, AI will be a key element of society. I believe that in the post-corona era, AI will undoubtedly be used in various fields as a core technology to support society.I hope that young people who aim to become IT (information technology) application engineers will enroll in The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics and use their fresh and flexible minds to take on the challenge of developing novel applications using AI technology.
