I don't think there is a day that goes by without you using the Internet on your smartphone or PC.Instead of calling it the "Internet," it might just be the "Net," or it might not even be called the "Net" anymore; it's just something that you see when you look at your smartphone.

I started working in the Internet industry around 1994, when commercial Internet service providers began to appear in Japan. The Internet back then was tiny compared to today, and we couldn't watch videos or have Zoom conference calls, which are commonplace at KCGI. But the feeling of being connected to the world through email and the web was amazing, and I still remember it.At the time, I was working as a network engineer, designing and operating networks, but gradually my work shifted from looking after my own network to coordinating the operation of the entire Internet, which is made up of over 70,000 interconnected networks, and I also had experience serving as an officer in a global operating organization.

It is safe to say that the reason the Internet has developed to the point where we can easily use videos and Zoom conferences is thanks to its democratic, voluntary, and inclusive culture and management structures. It is highly unlikely that the jobs you will take up after graduating from KCGI will be unrelated to the Internet, so I hope that you will gain an insight into the heart of the Internet.
