Dr. Ken Suekawa, a visiting professor at Kyoto University of Information Graduate School, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, August 4, due to heart failure.I was 49 years old.We have made great contributions to the development of the University's education.I express my condolences.

Suekawa was born on January 16, 1961 in Kyoto.His grandfather is a former professor at Kyoto University and Honorary President Ritsumeikan University Hiroshi Suekawa, and his father is Ritsumeikan University emeritus professor Kiyoshi Suekawa.After graduating from Kyoto Prefectural Kamobuchi Senior High School and Faculty of Science, Kyoto University, worked at Bandai Co., Ltd. and worked for General Vision Co., Ltd.A number of animations were produced, including “Nintama Rantaro” broadcasted on NHK and “Twelve Kingdoms”.
Kyoto University Graduate School of Information Science has welcomed Prof. Suekawa as a visiting professor since 2009 and was in charge of lectures on “Creative Industry Research”.Lectures from business perspectives such as the current state of the anime industry, Japan's leading industry, anime production process, marketing, and international strategy were interesting and meaningful for students studying web business technology.At the Kyoto Computer Gakuin Group School, we also gave a lecture from the animation industry and business perspective as a cultural lecture.
Prof. Suekawa responded carefully to each question during online discussions using the University's learning support system, and earned a special interest from students with his serious and generous personality.I thank you from the bottom of my heart and pray for a peaceful eternal sleep.
