Lecture "Invitation to Applied Informatics" will be delivered via JMOOC

Invitation to Applied Informatics
 

From March 23, 2015, The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) will be giving lectures on universities and other lectures online at JMOOC (Japan Massive Open Online Courses, operated by the Japan Massive Open Online Education Promotion Council). "Invitation to applied informatics-from business management to animation" will be distributed.By April 26, lectures on the following four themes will be offered through JMOOC: "Informatics of Life Infrastructure," "Informatics of Business Management," "Informatics of Animation," and "Informatics of Human Resource Development.

The goal of the lecture is to understand how ICT is applied in the real world, especially what are the advantages and disadvantages of ICT in various businesses.

Week 1: Informatics of Life Infrastructure March 23- Lecturer: Keiji Emi
Lectures on the fundamentals of information and communication technology (ICT) such as digitization, databases, networking, cloud computing, modeling, etc. through familiar examples.

Week 2: Informatics of Business Management March 30- Lecturer: Harufumi Ueda
Information systems used in companies will be explained using the manufacturing industry as an example, and the ideal form of corporate systems will be lectured from a management perspective.

Week 3: Informatics of Animation April 3- Lecturer: Sahoko Najo
The lecture will discuss how animation production has changed with the digitalization and what kind of business model it will become in the age of video sites.

Week 4: Informatics of Human Resource Development April 10- Lecturer: Toshio Okamoto
With the development of information and communication technology, e-learning has become a familiar tool for human resource development.Lecture on human resource development using e-learning.

Toshihide Ibaraki
Current position: President, Kyoto Institute of Information Science
Career summary: Graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Kyoto University, and received a doctorate in engineering from Kyoto University.He is a Fellow of the ACM, the Operations Research Society of Japan, the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, the Information Processing Society of Japan, and the Japanese Society for Applied Mathematics. Expertise: Algorithms, computational complexity, optimization and its applications

Keiji EmiCurrent position: Associate Professor, Kyoto Institute of Information Science
Career summary: Graduated from the Faculty of Science, Kyoto University, and obtained a doctorate in Human and Environmental Studies at Kyoto University.He also teaches at Fujian Normal University in China.Chairperson of the ET Robocon Kansai Region Executive Committee. Area of expertise: object-oriented modeling, instructional design in e-learning, MathML web representation of mathematical expressions, etc. Publications: "Linear Algebra and Geometry" (Kyoritsu Shuppan, 2004) and six other works.

Harufumi UedaCurrent position: Professor, Kyoto Institute of Information Science
Career Summary: Graduated from Osaka City University, Faculty of Engineering, and served as General Manager of IT/ERP Promotion Office, Sanyo Electric Co. He is the head of the SAP Users Group Kansai Forum and a former member of the IBM Users Group Kansai Committee.

Sahoko Nagura

Huang, O-Ping.Current position: Assistant Professor, Kyoto Institute of Information Science
Career Summary: Graduated from Dalian Jiaotong University, China, and received his M.A. from Iwate Prefectural University.He has worked as an informatics research assistant at the National Institute of Informatics, a technical staff member of the large-scale data modeling team at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, and a software development engineer at an IT company before assuming his current position.
