
The Japan Alumni Association was established as the first overseas alumni association of Shanghai Jianqiao Institute in China, an overseas affiliate of Kyoto College of Global Information Studies (KCGI), and its inaugural general meeting was held on November 16, 2024, in the hall of KCGI Kyoto Main Campus.The general meeting was attended by Chen Wei, Vice President of Shanghai Jianqiao Institute and President of the Alumni Association of Shanghai Jianqiao Institute, Yoichi Terashita, Vice President of KCGI, as well as officials from both universities, council members of the Alumni Association, and representatives from the Japanese Alumni Association.
At the general meeting, Vice President Chen and Vice President Terashita unveiled the plaque of the Japan Alumni Association of Tongjiang University.In his congratulatory address, Vice President Terashita praised the graduates of Shanghai Jianqiao Institute for going on to KCGI and improving their skills to contribute to society through IT.He encouraged the graduates to cherish the horizontal ties among graduates and the vertical ties among seniors and juniors, transcending differences in nationality and culture, and to develop a wonderful life together by working hard and helping each other.Vice President Chen also addressed the establishment of the Japan Alumni Association, saying that it would not only provide a forum for alumni in Japan to exchange and cooperate with each other, but also serve as a bridge between the alma mater and various sectors of the Japanese community.

Mr. Zhou Ting, a KCGI alumnus who is now an employee of KCGI and supports the study abroad program from his alma mater, Shanghai Jianqiao Institute, was elected as the first president of the Japan Alumni Association.In his address, Mr. Zhou expressed his gratitude to both alma maters, introduced the purpose and vision of the Japan Alumni Association, and promised to actively promote exchange and cooperation among alumni and contribute to the development of his alma mater.Two KCGI alumni were elected as vice presidents, including Yim Ye Kim.


Shanghai Jianqiao University, located in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, China, is a 20-year-old university with about 25,000 students and seven faculties.In April 2012, KCGI formed a partnership with KCGI to offer joint courses in seven fields, including network engineering and computer application technology.KCGI sends faculty members to give lectures twice a year, in the spring and fall, and also offers short-term study abroad courses, internships at Japanese companies, and other deep exchanges.
