The University of Informatics Educational Corporation, The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) and Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) held the first and second parts of the "Japanese Musical Instruments Concert" by the members of Wakana on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Main Hall on the 6th floor of KCGI Kyoto Ekimae Satellite and KCG Kyoto Ekimae Campus (Concert Hall).In the second part, all those who understand and cooperate with the educational activities of the University are also invited.Despite the cold weather, students and invited guests enjoyed the enthusiastic performance.
The four members of Wasane, Reach YAMAUCHI (shamisen, taiko), Kei MATSUO (flute), Hidenori YURA, and Ayaka OKOKAMOTO (taiko), formed the group in 2007 and have been performing throughout Japan.The concert featured a variety of taiko drums, shinobue (bamboo flute), and shamisen (three-stringed Japanese banjo), and a variety of original pieces, including arrangements of Japanese folk songs and original compositions that showcased each performer's unique style.The participants clapped their hands and shouted, and had a lot of fun together.In between the pieces, each instrument was introduced, and the international students who were not familiar with Japanese instruments listened with great interest.

KCG, KCGI, and other KCG groups incorporate general education courses into their curricula not only to acquire specialized knowledge and skills, but also to cultivate students' intellect and sensitivity, and hold classical concerts, various cultural lectures, and traditional arts appreciation events.These events are open to both educators and the general public.
