KCGI, Kyoto Computer Guraduate Institute of Informatics (KCGI), Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG), Kyoto Japanese Language Training Center (KJLTC), and Kyoto College of Global Management (KCGM) held their 2026 entrance ceremony on Friday, April 3, at the Main Hall of Kyoto International Conference Center in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City, in response to a large increase in enrollment.Amidst rapid advances in AI technology and other major changes in the digital environment, new students eager to acquire expertise and advanced skills in IT and automotive maintenance have joined the KCG family of more than 50,000 graduates and alumni.Congratulations on your enrollment!
The KCG Group, which boasts a tradition and track record in computer and IT education, attracts many future-oriented young people from Japan and abroad, and its students come from more than 50 different countries.The number of students enrolled at KCGI will increase every year, with the enrollment capacity increasing to 1,000 students from FY2025, 12.5 times the number of students when the school opened.For this reason, this year's entrance ceremony was moved from the main hall on campus to the main hall of the Kyoto International Conference Center, where a large number of people could attend.Spring is in full bloom in Kyoto.The ceremony hall was filled with smiling faces of hopeful new students and their parents.
At the entrance ceremony, after showing a video introducing the history of KCG and the KCG Group, which was founded in 1963 as the first computer education institution in Japan, KCGI, KCG, and KCGM President Wataru Hasegawa delivered his ceremonial address.President Hasegawa said, "The KCG family, a network of alumni and graduates, is not limited to Japan but extends to the world.You are here from all over the world, and from today you are a part of that family.I hope that you will take pride in your choice of this school, and I wish you a meaningful student life as you pursue your studies independently.He added, "While you are in school, make as many friends as possible who will become lifelong treasures.Please encourage each other and study hard among friends.We hope that you will follow in the footsteps of our outstanding seniors and become confident graduates and alumni, and open up a bright future for yourselves," he encouraged.
KCGI President Yoichi Terashita then delivered the ceremonial address.President Terashita commented, "Recently, when people hear the word 'information technology,' they often first think of 'artificial intelligence (AI),' but the foundation of this technology is computer technology.The study you are about to undertake is state-of-the-art computer technology and embraces many fields of application," he pointed out.He added, "All activities in modern society are based on advanced information technology.You will have an important mission as core human resources who will support society in the future.I sincerely hope that your studies over the next few years will bear fruit in a big way," he added emphatically.
Next, congratulatory telegrams were presented by Sanae Takaichi, President of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, and others from various fields.
Mr. Yoshida of KCG's Department of Media and Information Studies delivered the pledge on behalf of the new students.In recent years, the development and evolution of information technology, including AI, has been remarkable, making it easy for anyone to obtain a great deal of information and creating a society where a variety of information intersects.Hence, it is sometimes used in undesirable ways.We believe that we should take our academic work seriously in order to provide the right information to those who need it.To this end, we will continue to learn with honesty and humility, and deepen our own thinking," he pledged.
After the ceremony, the new students received their student ID cards and started their new academic life.A parent-teacher conference was held in a separate room at the Kyoto International Conference Center.
