From the 2019 academic year, KCGI enrollment capacity will be 480 students.Six times what it was when the school opened.

The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) will increase the number of students enrolled in 2019 from 360 to 480.The change was submitted to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on December 21, 2018.This is six times the enrollment capacity of 80 students at the time the school opened in 2004.As the first IT professional graduate school in Japan, the University celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2018.We will continue our efforts to develop leaders who will lead the IT industry in Japan and overseas.

While IT for business applications continues to progress, there is a shortage of more than 170,000 IT personnel, according to the results of a survey on the latest trends and future estimates of domestic IT personnel released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in June 2016.According to the report, IT demand will continue to grow in the future due to the security measures required for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, as well as the spread of electric vehicles, and the shortage will reach 789,000 by 2030.

Under these circumstances, the University of Tokyo has been attracting attention for its ability to nurture top leaders in the field of IT applications and produce talented human resources, and the number of applicants from Japan and overseas has been increasing rapidly.In response to this situation, the University has decided to increase the number of students in order to meet the demands of society.

Due to the increase in enrollment, the capacity will be 840 students in the 2019 academic year and 960 students in the 2020 academic year and thereafter.
