The Information University Educational Corporation—comprising Kyoto College of Graduate Studies in Information Science (KCGI), Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG), and the Kyoto Japanese Language Training Center (KJLTC)—held its fall 2026 semester entrance ceremony on Wednesday, September 30, in the Grand Hall on the 6th floor of the KCGI Kyoto Satellite and KCG Kyoto Station Campus.As AI continues to evolve dramatically, young people from Japan and abroad—determined to acquire IT expertise and advanced technical skills and become information technology professionals who will make their mark on the world—have joined the KCG family, renowned for its tradition and track record.Congratulations to everyone on your admission.
At the entrance ceremony, following the screening of a video introducing the history of KCG—founded in 1963 as Japan’s first computer education institution—and the KCG Group, Wataru Hasegawa, President of KCGI, KCG, and Kyoto Automobile Technical College (KCGM), delivered the opening address.President Hasegawa explained the group’s history and educational philosophy, noting that in 2025 the name of KCGI’s operating organization was changed to “The University of Informatics,” and that the Athens Satellite Campus (Greece) was established this past April. He then stated,“The ‘KCG Family’—a network of more than 50,000 program completers and graduates—is expanding not only within Japan but also across the globe.”All of you who have been admitted to our university are now part of our family, starting today."I hope you will take pride in having chosen this university with a clear sense of purpose, approach your studies proactively, and lead a meaningful student life," he said.And, “While you’re in school, make as many friends as possible—friends who will become treasures for life.”Please work hard to hone your skills while offering encouragement to one another."Follow in the footsteps of your outstanding seniors, become confident graduates, and carve out a bright future for yourselves," he encouraged them.
Yoichi Terashita, President of KCGI, then delivered the commencement address, stating, “In modern society, every aspect of life—from business, journalism, politics, and diplomacy to people’s daily lives and international security—is supported by advanced information technology.”In other words, you will shoulder an important mission as the core workforce that will support the society of the future."I sincerely hope that your future studies will bear fruit in the form of great achievements," he said encouragingly.And “Technological progress must be used for the benefit of humanity.”The days when it was enough to “just know the technology,” as it used to be, are already a thing of the past."I would like to emphasize that all of you who are about to begin learning specialized knowledge and skills are expected not only to acquire them, but also to consider how you will apply that knowledge and those skills to society in the future and contribute to the happiness and well-being of humanity," he said.
Following that, congratulatory messages from Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Yoshihiro Seki, Member of the House of Representatives and Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, were read aloud.
In response, Ms. Zhu from the KCGI Graduate School of Applied Information Technology, speaking on behalf of the incoming students, said, “I’m very curious and love taking on new challenges.”Last year, I had the opportunity to participate in our university’s short-term study abroad program.During that time, as I studied under the warm guidance of my professors and upperclassmen, I was deeply impressed by the university’s rich learning environment and its culture that values the growth of each and every student.As a result, my desire to continue my studies at Kyoto Graduate School of Information Science and Technology grew stronger, and I decided to enroll."As I embark on my college life, I pledge to use my curiosity as a driving force to actively take on the challenge of acquiring new knowledge and skills, and to greatly expand my potential by learning and growing together with my peers," he declared with conviction.
