On January 31, 2025, a master project public hearing was held at the main building of the Hyakumanben Campus to present the results of the master project conducted by students of the Kyoto College of GIS (KCGI) as the culmination of two years of study and research.
This year's Master Project reflected the times, with many presentations of AI-based research and system prototypes from other fields of expertise as well as from the field of Artificial Intelligence. There were also presentations by international students tackling issues in their own countries, including a proposal for paraphrasing Japanese sentences for international students using GPT based on issues discovered through contact with international students, educational reform in the digital age based on a comparison of the Japanese and Chinese university entrance examination systems, and the development of an application using AI to solve agricultural problems in Sri Lanka. The student who gave the presentation said with a satisfied look on his face, "I think that the fact that I was able to learn how to communicate in a way that others could understand the issues raised and my own approach to them through the presentation will be a strength for me.
KCGI's Master Project is a required course that focuses on the practical application of ICT and the use of technology, and aims to help students develop an awareness of their own problems, analyze them, and present solutions.Compared to the traditional research-based master's thesis of the master's program, the master's thesis is not only a study of new knowledge creation, but also a practical project that utilizes and applies existing tools and other resources. As the culmination of their studies, the program aims to provide an opportunity for students to apply ICT in practical ways to improve the real world and people's lives.
