Pianist Kyoko Tagawa, Professor of KCGI, releases "KCG's 60th Anniversary Album

On June 30, 2024, international pianist Kyoko Tagawa, professor at The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI), released the CD "Beethoven Piano Sonatas 'Moonlight,' 'Tempest,' and 'Passion'" commemorating the 60th anniversary of Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) and 20th anniversary of KCGI in 2023.Recorded in the main hall of KCG Kyoto Ekimae School and KCGI Kyoto Ekimae Satellite, which boasts one of the best acoustics in western Japan, the album is full of the charm of Professor Takawa, who is also known for his successful "Complete Beethoven Piano Sonata Concerts".

The commemorative CD includes (1)-(3) Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 27-2 "Moonlight", (4)-(6) Piano Sonata No. 17 in D minor, Op. 31-2 "Tempest", (7)-(9) Piano Sonata No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57 "Passion", (10) Rondo in C major, Op. 51-1.The recording was made from March 4 to 6, 2024, using Steinway &Sons D-275 piano, which is permanently installed in the hall.52 minutes and 39 seconds.The price is 3,300 yen (including tax) and is available on Amazon.

Professor Tagawa graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts with a Bachelor of Music (M.A., Music) and from the Karl Maria von Weber University of Music and Performing Arts, Dresden, Germany.With a wide repertoire ranging from baroque to modern and contemporary music, she has given numerous solo recitals in Japan and abroad, and is active in many other fields, including performing with orchestras and chamber music.The "Beethoven Piano Sonata Concerts" were held from 2009 to 2011.He teaches "Introduction to Music" at KCGI and is also a part-time lecturer at Osaka University of Arts and Kyoto Horikawa Music High School.

The KCG group was founded on May 1, 1963, by a group of former students of the Department of Astrophysics, Graduate School of Astrophysics, Kyoto University, and is based on the "FORTRAN Research Group" for university academics and researchers.It was the first computer education institution in Japan, founded by Shigeo Hasegawa, the first president, and Yasuko Hasegawa, the current president, who were quick to recognize the potential of computers and harbored the belief, passion, and pioneering spirit of training information processing engineers.In 1969, Kyoto Computer Gakuin, Japan's first full-time school for the training of computer engineers, was established.Since then, it has continued to grow and evolve until today.In 2004, KCGI was founded and joined the group schools.KCG and KCGI have more than 50,000 graduates and alumni, contributing to the development and traction of the IT industry in Japan and around the world.In 2013, Kyoto Computer Gakuin Automobile School (KCGM), the oldest auto mechanic training school in Kyoto, joined our group.Graduates are active as auto maintenance technicians with IT knowledge.In May 2024, KCG celebrated its 61st anniversary.
