The "Ukrainian Conversation Book for Communicating with Ukrainian Displaced Persons" published in Japan by Professor Vladimir Migdalisky and his mother, Victoria Migdaliska, both from Ukraine who teach at Kyoto Computer Guraduate Institute (KCGI), has been recognized IN SIGHT OF THE WHOLE WORLD in the 2024 national competition "The Ukrainian Language is the language of unity" and the two professors were recently awarded a certificate of appreciation.In their certificates, the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine praised each of them, "We are proud to recognize their efforts in the creation and publication of the Ukrainian-Japanese conversation book.
Conversation Book" is a collection of daily conversations written in both Japanese and Ukrainian for Ukrainians and others who took refuge in Japan after the Russian invasion in February 2022, and was published in July of the same year by Dnepr Publishing and Shinposhobo (ISBN: 9784882699231).This 46-page book contains commonly used phrases such as daily greetings in both languages as well as in romaji.
Professor Migdalisky is an informatics scholar with a master's degree from Odessa State University and a PhD from Kyoto University.After serving as a specially-appointed lecturer at Kyoto University, he became a professor at KCGI.His areas of expertise include numerical analysis and Japanese and Russian language pedagogy. At KCGI, he teaches courses such as "Mathematics for Applied Information Technology" and "Statistics for IT.
Professor Migdaliska has long been involved in Japanese language education, including as a senior Japanese language lecturer at Odessa National University, and in 2017 received the Japanese Foreign Minister's Commendation.After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he took refuge in Kyoto, where his second son, Professor Migdalsky, was living, and became a professor at KCGI.In addition to teaching "ICT Practical Communication," he continues to give lectures at municipalities that are cooperating in accepting displaced persons from Ukraine.
