The first meeting of the Society of Tourism Information Studies (SIS) in collaboration with Kyoto College of Global Information Studies (KCGI) was held on February 15, 2025, at KCGI Kyoto Ekimae Satellite, where students and faculty members in the KCGI Tourism IT field presented their research.In addition to members from Osaka and Wakayama, many students from Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) and KCGI outside the field of tourism IT participated in the conference, and there were opportunities for active question-and-answer sessions and exchanges of opinions.

In addition, Mr. Wang Wei, former chief representative of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and vice president of the Service Quality Improvement Branch of the China Tourism Association, gave an invited lecture on "China's Travel Industry: Sluggishness and Countermeasures".The presentations by KCGI students and faculty members studying tourism covered a wide range of topics in an effort to realize sustainable tourism development in the Kansai region in the run-up to the Osaka-Kansai Expo.

The study group aims to improve the attractiveness of tourist attractions and decentralize tourists through the collection and analysis of dynamic tourist data, the digitization of tourist resources, and the realization of smart cities, and to implement and deploy them in the real world by utilizing the framework of industry-government-academia collaboration.KCGI has established "Tourism IT" as one of the specialized fields, where students learn to create new tourism services and tourism business models by applying ICT.This workshop has been prepared mainly by faculty members in the field of tourism IT specialties.

In a special lecture, Associate Professor Osamu Masuda of Kyoto University of Foreign Studies spoke about methods for evaluating the impact on customers of differences in the means of providing information in marketing using robots and generative AI.
