The 2024 degree conferment and graduation ceremonies for Kyoto Computer Guraduate Institute of Informatics (KCGI), Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG), Kyoto Japanese Language Training Center (KJLTC), and Kyoto College of Global Motor Vehicles (KCGM) were held on March 14, 2025, at the 6th floor main hall of KCG Kyoto Ekimae Campus and KCGI Kyoto Ekimae Satellite.As the digitalization of society accelerates with the rapid development and use of AI, there is a growing demand for excellent human resources in the IT field and for mechanics with IT skills in the rapidly digitalizing automotive industry.Congratulations to all of you!We sincerely wish you the best in your future endeavors.
Due to the recent increase in the number of students, the ceremony was divided into two parts: the first part in the morning for KCGI and the second part in the afternoon for KCG, KJLTC, and KCGM.On a beautiful spring day, many graduates, alumni, and parents gathered in the main hall, which was filled with a festive atmosphere.The ceremony was also broadcast online for the benefit of KCGI Sapporo and Tokyo Satellites.
KCGI President Yoichi Terashita presented the "Master of Information Technology (Professional)" degree to a representative of the graduating class, and the principals of each KCG school and KCGM presented diplomas and advanced specialist/professional degree certificates to a representative of the graduating class.Next, the graduates who had achieved outstanding academic and research results and were selected for the Grand Prize, Excellence Award, and Outstanding Project Award were presented with certificates, plaques, and commemorative gifts.
In his remarks at the ceremony, KCGI/KCG/KCGM President Wataru Hasegawa said, "You have acquired a great deal of IT-related knowledge and skills at our university.The IT field continues to make tremendous progress as technology evolves, especially in the area of AI, where the competition for development is becoming more and more intense.There are high expectations for our graduates and alumni from various fields.I hope that you will use the knowledge and skills you have acquired to further enhance your skills after entering the workforce and contribute to building a better society," he encouraged.You are a member of the KCG family, a network of more than 50,000 alumni and alumnae.When you enter the workforce, there are always opportunities to meet your seniors.At that time, I hope that you will confidently identify yourself as a junior, build good relationships with others, and solidify those relationships.The KCG Group is committed to further development together with our graduates and alumni.I sincerely wish you all good health and success in your future endeavors," he said in his farewell address.
President Terashita said, "The question of how new technology will affect society has been an important issue for mankind for tens of thousands of years.Technology" always has both positive and negative aspects for mankind," he said, adding, "In the case of AI technology, the impact on human society is said to be extremely serious.It is a worry that we cannot ignore the possibility that it could run amok and bring human society to ruin," he pointed out.He added, "In the future, you will be working in the real world of IT and AI development and research, but I want you to think not only about the technology but also about how the technology will be used in society.The more advanced the technology becomes, the more it is understood that the only people who are familiar with the essence of such things are the professional engineers, i.e., all of you here.He encouraged the graduates and alumni who will open up the future with technology, saying, "I think it is an important duty of engineers to improve their own skills and educate society at the same time.
Mr. Aoyagi of KCGI and Mr. Hayashi of KCG's Department of Computer Science and Engineering delivered their graduation addresses in the first part of the ceremony.The students expressed their determination to overcome anticipated difficulties by utilizing the skills, knowledge, and experience they have learned at KCG Group and by maintaining an attitude of learning even after entering the workforce.
At the end of each ceremony, all the participants sang "Hotarunokari" together.In the evening after the ceremony, the graduation party was held at Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto.The venue was filled with smiling faces as alumni, graduates, faculty, and staff reminisced.
