The “Master’s Project Public Presentation,” where students from Kyoto College of Information Graduate School (KCGI), part of the Information University Educational Foundation, presented the results of their Master’s Projects—the culmination of two years of study and research—was held on July 29 and 30, 2026,KCGI’s Hyakumanben Campus Main Building, where professors evaluated the work presented during the sessions.
In a hybrid format combining in-person and online elements, students from various fields—including data science and tourism IT—delivered presentations in both English and Japanese.Topics ranged from a framework for detecting heart disease to tourism demand forecasting and the development of interactive video educational materials—all of which were themes the students had chosen independently—and the Q&A session featured lively exchanges with the faculty.The students looked very satisfied, saying, “I was nervous at first, but as the presentation went on, I relaxed and was able to enjoy it,” and “I was happy to be able to showcase the results of two years of study and research.”
KCGI’s Master’s Project is a required course that focuses on the practical application and utilization of ICT, with the goal of guiding students from identifying their own concerns to defining problems, analyzing them, and proposing solutions.Unlike the master’s theses in traditional research-based graduate programs, this program requires students to compile not only research aimed at creating new knowledge but also practical projects that utilize and apply existing tools and resources as their master’s thesis.As the culmination of their studies, we aim to provide students with an opportunity to apply ICT in practical ways to improve real-world society and people’s lives.
