The degree conferment ceremony of The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) and the graduation ceremony of Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG), Kyoto Japanese Language Training Center (KJLTC), and Kyoto Computer Gakuin Automobile School (KCGM) were held on March 16, 2024, at the 6th floor main hall of KCG Kyoto Ekimae Campus and KCGI Kyoto Ekimae Satellite.As the digitalization of society becomes more pronounced with the rapid development and spread of AI, and the shortage of human resources in the IT and auto maintenance industries becomes more serious, graduates who have acquired advanced skills and a wealth of knowledge have left the school with confidence and hope.Congratulations to all of you!We sincerely wish you the best in your future endeavors.
Due to the recent increase in the number of students, the ceremony was divided into two parts: the first part was held at KCGI, and the second part was held at KCG, KJLTC, and KCGM.On a beautiful spring day, many graduates, alumni, and parents gathered in the main hall, and the place was filled with smiles.The ceremony was also streamed online for the benefit of KCGI Sapporo and Tokyo Satellites and others.
KCGI President Shinji Tomita presented the "Master of Information Technology (Professional)" degree to the representative of the graduating class, while the principal of each KCG school presented the diploma to the representative of the KCG graduating class, and Principal Masayoshi Tezuka presented the diploma and the certificate for the title of "Advanced Professional or Specialist" to the representative of the KCGM graduating class.Next, the graduates and alumni who had achieved outstanding academic and research results and were selected for the Grand Prize, Excellence Award, and Outstanding Project Award were presented with certificates and commemorative gifts.
In his address at the ceremony, KCGI/KCG/KCGM President Wataru Hasegawa said, "You have acquired a variety of knowledge and skills related to IT.I believe that the IT field will continue to advance and develop at a dizzying pace, with the rapid expansion of the use of generative AI.I hope that you will further hone your skills and contribute to the realization of a better society," he encouraged.He added, "Each of you is a member of the KCG family, a human network of more than 50,000 graduates and alumni.He requested that not only horizontal ties between alumni and graduates, but also vertical ties between seniors and juniors be valued.Referring to KCG's 60th anniversary in 2023, he said, "As we aim for another 100 years, the KCG Group, our alma mater, will continue to take on new challenges while leveraging our past achievements.It would be wonderful if our university and alumni could grow and develop together," he said in his farewell address.
President Tomita said, "It is clear that a new era is coming, with artificial intelligence as the core technology.In order to solve various problems, it is necessary for you to think for yourselves and cultivate the "ability to survive in the new era," he pointed out.Your completion and graduation from the University is a testament to your tireless efforts.Please be confident.You will need to learn many new things in the future as you enter the workforce.I know there will be many challenges, but I am confident that all of you will make steady progress while overcoming difficulties.I hope that all of you will take up the challenge and live strongly.
Mr. Doi of KCGI and Mr. Ichise of KCG's Game Department gave graduation addresses in the first and second parts of the ceremony, respectively, in which they expressed their determination to face and overcome the difficulties they expect to face when they enter society through the knowledge, skills, and strong bonds of mutual support they have developed in the KCG Group.
At the end of each ceremony, all attendees sang "Hotarunokari" together.After the ceremony, the venue was moved to Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto for the completion and graduation celebrations.This is the first celebration at the actual venue in five years, since the spring of 2019, before the spread of the new coronavirus.Graduates, alumni, faculty, and staff enjoyed reminiscing and talking.
