On Saturday, April 6, the KCG Group's 2024 entrance ceremony for Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG), The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI), Kyoto Japanese Language Training Center (KJLTC), and Kyoto Computer Gakuin Automobile School (KCGM) was held in two separate, face-to-face sessions at KCG Kyoto Ekimae Campus and KCGI Kyoto Ekimae Satellite 6F Main Hall due to the large number of new students.KCGI/KCGM President Wataru Hasegawa and KCGI President Shinji Tomita delivered the ceremonial addresses, welcoming and encouraging the new students. With the rapid development and spread of AI, the digitalization of society is becoming more and more prominent.Congratulations on your enrollment!

KCG Group, which celebrated the 60th anniversary of KCG and the 20th anniversary of KCGI last year, attracts young people from home and abroad who aspire to become IT educational institutions with tradition and achievements. The ceremony was divided into two sessions, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, due to society's strong demand for high-level IT personnel, which are in short supply, and the increase in enrollment in conjunction with the increase in KCGI's admission capacity to 880 students from FY2024.On a beautiful spring day, the ceremony hall was filled with smiling new students and their parents.

At the entrance ceremony, after watching a video introducing the history of KCG and the KCG Group, which was founded as the first computer education institution in Japan, President Hasegawa delivered his address.President Hasegawa said, "The situation surrounding IT is changing rapidly. The speed of evolution of generative AI has far exceeded initial expectations, and the remarkable spread of the Internet has led to the dramatic development of cyberspace in human society. The University has been involved in the cutting edge of the Internet since its early days, and is an educational institution with an enterprising spirit," he introduced. He added, "I hope that you will take pride in your choice and decision to study at our university, and spend your student life in a meaningful way with an eye on the future. While you are in school, make as many friends as possible who will become lifelong treasures, encourage each other, and study hard.I hope that you will follow in the footsteps of our outstanding seniors and become confident graduates and carve out a bright future for yourselves," he encouraged.

President Tomita then delivered a ceremonial address, saying, "Generative AI is far more convenient than search engines, but it also has many problems to be solved and is fraught with dangers. The use of generative AI must not diminish the human ability to think. He pointed out that it is important for everyone to think for themselves as they proceed with their studies. He added, "One of the characteristics of our university is internationalization. We have international students from diverse countries. In a place of study, there is no merit in internationalization if only students from the same country gather together.International students need to improve their Japanese language skills and Japanese students need to improve their English skills. Please deepen exchanges among students from various countries on a regular basis," he urged.

Following this, Mr. Shinohara of KCGI Graduate School of Applied Information Technology, majoring in Web Business Technology (from KCG Department of Information Science), and Mr. Miyamoto of KCG Department of Information Science (from Kyoto Subaru High School) gave the pledge as representatives of new students in the first part, and in the second part.We believe that our mission as information engineers is to create a rich, safe, and comfortable society in which everyone can effectively use necessary information.I will strive to grow every day, aiming to cultivate not only specialized knowledge and skills but also "abundant creativity" in order to contribute to the realization of an ideal information society," he pledged emphatically.

A parent-teacher conference was held after the ceremony.New students received their student ID cards and other certificates to start their new academic lives.
