The degree conferment and graduation ceremonies for the spring semester of the 2024 academic year of The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) and Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) were held on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the 6th floor main hall of KCGI Kyoto Ekimae Satellite, KCG Kyoto Ekimae Campus.As the digitalization of society progresses further and the demand for excellent human resources in the IT field increases, graduates and alumni who have acquired advanced skills and a wealth of knowledge have left the school with confidence and hope.Congratulations to all of you!We sincerely wish you the best in your future endeavors.
In the lingering summer heat, many graduates and their parents attended the ceremony in the main hall.The ceremony was streamed online for the benefit of KCGI Sapporo Satellite, Tokyo Satellite, and others.
Vice President Yoichi Terashita presented the "Master of Information Technology (Professional)" degree to the representative of KCGI graduates, and Rakuhoku Principal Noboru Takahiro presented the diploma and certificate of conferral of the advanced professional and specialist titles to the representative of KCGI graduates.Next, the graduates who had achieved outstanding academic and research results and were selected for the Grand Prize and Excellence Award were presented with certificates, commemorative gifts, and other awards.
In his address at the ceremony, Wataru Hasegawa, President of KCGI, KCG and Kyoto Computer Gakuin Automobile School (KCGM), said, "The IT field continues to make tremendous progress and development.In particular, the competition for development of generative AI is intensifying, and laws, regulations, and governance are being strengthened around the world.Under these circumstances, the demand for personnel with solid IT skills is becoming even stronger," he noted.He added, "There are high expectations from various fields for our graduates and alumni as human resources who will play a leading role in the digital society.I am confident that those of you who have studied hard at our university will be able to respond quickly to evolution and stay ahead of the curve.I hope that you will further develop your skills by applying what you have learned and contribute to the realization of a better society," he encouraged.He added, "Each of you is a member of the KCG family, a human network of more than 50,000 graduates and alumni.When you enter the workforce, you will surely have opportunities to meet your seniors.At that time, you should confidently identify yourself as a junior and build good relationships to solidify them.Please value not only the horizontal connections between graduates and alumni, but also the vertical connections between seniors and juniors.I hope that by cooperating and helping each other, you will enrich your lives," he said.
KCGI President Shinji Tomita said in his address, "You have studied at KCGI for only a few years, and the number of specialized subjects you have studied is limited.Many of you may have never studied the ICT field before coming to our university.It must have been a great challenge to study something completely new.The fact that I was able to complete my studies and graduate from this university is a testament to my tireless efforts.Please be confident.You will need to learn many new things in the future as you enter the workforce.I know you will face many challenges, but I am confident that you will overcome these difficulties and make steady progress," he encouraged.I wish you all the best in your endeavors, and I hope that you will live on strongly with a challenging spirit to "pioneer a new era".
On behalf of the graduates and alumni, Mr. Roh of KCGI's Graduate School of Applied Information Technology said, "I have learned a lot and gained valuable experience over the past two years.My time in graduate school was not only a time to gain new knowledge, but also a time to deeply experience my own personal growth.From now on, we will each take a new step toward our dreams and goals.Some will continue their academic pursuits, others will take on the challenges of society, but I am determined to use the knowledge and experience I gained at this university to contribute to future development in my field," he said in his graduation address.
Finally, all the attendees sang "Hotarunokari" together.After the ceremony, KCGI graduates were handed their degrees in the main hall.
After the ceremony, the celebration was moved to RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto, where the graduation party was held.Graduates, alumni, faculty members, and others enjoyed drinks and discussions about their happy memories of their student life and their dreams for the future.
