In 2023, the KCG Group, including Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) and The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI), donated 295 computers used by the university to the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (PNGUoT) in Papua New Guinea, an independent country in the South Pacific Ocean about 4600 km south of Japan, as an overseas computer education support activity (IDCE).The ceremony was attended by Professor Yoichi Terashita, Principal of KCG Kyoto Ekimae School and Vice President of KCGI, and Professor Yujiro Nishimura, in charge of international liaison at KCG Group.
In Papua New Guinea, the new school year begins in February.The presentation ceremony was held in the auditorium where new students had gathered for orientation, and Vice President Terashita delivered a speech, saying, "I am pleased to conclude the first academic exchange agreement in the Oceania region with the University of Technology Papua New Guinea.PNGUoT President Ola Renagi said, "We are grateful for the 295 computers donated by KCG, which are used computers, but all are Intel Core i7 with high specifications.We look forward to further exchanges with the KCG Group in ICT education, Japanese language education, and other areas," he said in his acknowledgments.
On February 6, the day before the presentation ceremony, KCG Group and PNGUoT held a signing ceremony for an academic exchange agreement, whereby PNGUoT will accept international students to KCG Group and promote exchanges such as ICT-related curriculum advice.
IDCE (International Development of Computer Education) is an international computer education support program in which the KCG Group donates PCs used in education to developing countries and Eastern European countries, and trains local teachers to provide instruction.Through IDCE, the KCG Group promotes the creation and dissemination of computer culture on a global scale.
