Associate Professor Masayuki Ito (Library and Information Science) of Kyoto College of Guraduate School of Informatics (KCGI) was invited to an international conference held in Mamun University, Uzbekistan, on March 6 and 7, 2026, and gave a lecture at the conference on March 7.KCGI and Mamun University will sign an academic exchange agreement (MOU = Memorandum of Understanding) in June 2025.This invitation and lecture have further deepened the understanding and cooperation between the two universities.
Associate Professor Ito was invited to the International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Role of Higher Education Institutions in Ensuring Friendship among Peoples and Interethnic Harmony".Representatives and professors from universities in various countries affiliated with the University of Mamun participated in the event.Associate Professor Ito, who teaches courses such as "Library and Information Science" and "Leadership Theory," said in his lecture that "modern libraries are deeply involved in academics, life enrichment, and growth," and that he is considering a "special program" between Mamun University and KCGI, and hopes that faculty and students from both institutions will interact more deeply.
Mamun University is a general university founded in 2020 in Khorezm province, western Uzbekistan, with several campuses in and around the provincial capital, Urgench, where about 10,000 students are studying including distance learning.In addition to KCGI, KCGI has agreements with Nagoya City University and Kinjo Gakuin University in Japan for short-term study abroad programs.
KCGI lecturer Sun Yimeng, who specializes in AI, also participated in this invited visit.KCGI explained the educational content of KCGI to students from Mamun University who are interested in studying in Japan and at KCGI.The participating students asked a number of questions about scholarship programs, and the person in charge expressed his/her desire to support the realization of study abroad.
