On January 29 and 30, 2026, the "Master Project Public Hearing" was held in the main building of the Hyakumanben Campus, where students of the Kyoto College of Information Science and Technology (KCGI) presented the results of their master projects, the culmination of two years of study and research, in a presentation format and were judged by professors.
In this master project, a variety of research results were presented from various fields of expertise, including automatic detection of abnormal hemoglobin using machine learning, forest fire detection using satellite data, the relationship between weather and main complaints of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment, and evaluation of green energy efficiency methods in IoT systems.During the Q&A session, the professors raised many points and questions, and the students answered them sincerely. The student who gave the presentation said, "I was nervous, but I think I was satisfied with my research. After completing the program, I want to be able to apply what I have learned and achieve the next result again," he said with a fulfilled look on his face.Although the public hearing had come to a close, some were motivated to continue their research to solve further problems.
KCGI's Master Project is a required course that focuses on the practical application of ICT and the use of technology, and aims to help students develop an awareness of their own problems, analyze them, and present solutions.Unlike the conventional master's thesis of a master's program, which is based on research, the master's thesis includes not only research on the creation of new knowledge, but also a practical project that utilizes existing tools and other resources and applies them.As the culmination of their studies, the program aims to provide students with an opportunity to apply ICT in practical ways to improve the real world and people's lives.
