Kyoto Joho Gakuen, which operates Kyoto College of Information Technology (KCGI), recently applied to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for approval to change the name of the educational corporation to "Joho University.The English name shall be "The University of Informatics".
Since its opening in 2004 as Japan's first IT professional graduate school in the ancient capital of Kyoto, the university has been aiming to be No. 1 in Asia from the very beginning.The number of students has increased significantly from 80 at the time of its founding to 1,000 by the 2025 academic year.In addition to the main school in Kyoto and the Kyoto Ekimae Satellite, there are also satellites in Sapporo and Tokyo, with plans to add more locations in the future.In order to expand globally, the name of the corporation will not be limited to Kyoto, but will be the name of a Japanese university in the world, with no geographical limitation.
The University has two areas of specialization: information and management.The nine specialized fields of study include: IT (Information Technology), Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Web System Development, Network Management, Global Entrepreneurship, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), IT Manga/Animation, Tourism IT, and IT Entertainment.Many of our professors have extensive practical experience.Upon completion, students will receive a Master of Information Technology (Professional), the highest degree in the field of IT applications in Japan.
