Prof. Satoaki Tateishi of Kyoto Computer Guraduate Institute (KCGI) will give a lecture titled "Efforts to Build a Clean, Safe and Secure Internet Environment at Dot Kyoto" at the study session of "Domestic IGF Activity Activation Team for IGF 2023" to be held on Monday, March 17, 2025.The study group was organized by the team that was formed for the Internet Governance Forum (IGF Kyoto 2023) to be held in Kyoto in 2023 and has continued to meet since the forum's opening. The event will be held in a hybrid format with a local venue in Tokyo and a venue using Zoom, and anyone interested in the content of the presentations is welcome to attend free of charge. If you wish to attend, please see the outline below and register.
Professor Tateishi is Vice Chairman and Executive Director of the Japan Internet Providers Association and Representative Director of the Internet Content Safety Association. In his presentation, he will introduce his efforts to promote ".kyoto (dot-Kyoto)", the top-level domain for geographical names, with the goal of contributing to the creation of a cyberspace for Kyoto and further strengthening the brand power of "Kyoto in the world" through an all-Kyoto effort by industry, government, and academia, thereby enhancing the value of Kyoto Prefecture as a whole.
As a ".kyoto" management and operating entity supported by Kyoto Prefecture and approved by ICANN, an international domain management organization, the University has realized a clean domain that is safe and secure and maintains a high level of reliability, and has positioned this operation and management as a "social education project. The first School on Internet Governance (SIG) office in Japan was established on campus in conjunction with IGF Kyoto 2023, a United Nations-sponsored event to promote dialogue among stakeholders on all issues related to the Internet.Even after the IGF, SIG Japan, an event to consider various aspects of the IGF, is being held, and the Cyber Kyoto Laboratory (CKL), established by the University, is supporting its activities.
