The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) An information security seminar hosted by Cyber Kyoto Research Laboratories was held on November 22 at the Kyoto University of Information Sciences Kyoto Hall.The lecturer was Mr. Yoshiyasu Nishibe, General Manager of Security Management Office, Information Security Department, NTT Communications, who gave a lecture entitled "Is your router safe? In a lecture titled "Your PC is being targeted like this," he explained the importance of Internet security and examples of cyber attacks in an easy-to-understand manner, even for beginners.After introducing the trend of cyber-attacks and the amount of damage caused by cyber-attacks over the past 10 years, Mr. Nishibe explained in detail the methods of sending e-mails under the names of NTT Communications and friends to infect PCs with viruses (ransomware).As a countermeasure that even a beginner can take, I introduced the method of waiting for a few hours without opening the mail immediately when it arrives, and having the security software check the virus using data on the Internet in the meantime, and advised that this alone can prevent a lot of damage.In addition to KCGI and KCG students, many ordinary citizens also visited the venue, indicating the high level of interest in Internet security.
