The "Logistics x Generative AI Workshop" was held by the "Future Environment Lab" jointly established by Kyoto Computer Guraduate Institute of Informatics (KCGI), Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG), and major IT service provider BIPROGY Corporation on November 30 (Sat) and December 1 (Sun), 2024, with the support of major logistics service provider Tonami Holdings Co.
After Prof. Takao Nakaguchi of KCGI explained the objectives of the workshop and the key points of the group work, Mr. Kensuke Konishi, Executive Officer and General Manager of Information Strategy Office, Corporate Planning Group, Tonami Holdings, Inc. gave a presentation entitled "Current Situation and Issues of Logistics Business" on the "2024 Problem" facing the logistics and transportation industry due to the enforcement of the revised law concerning truck driver overtime regulations and what is needed to improve the industry, and examples of logistics DX (Digital Transformation).Professor Nakaguchi then gave an overview of generative AI, its latest status, diversification of applications, and points to keep in mind when using generative AI, while also touching on the contents of workshops that have been conducted by the Future Environment Lab so far.
In group work divided into four teams, students asked questions and received advice directly from Mr. Konishi, members of the Tonami Group, and Professor Hitoshi Miura of KCGI, the chief researcher of BIPROGY's Integrated Technology Research Institute, and discussed which issues to solve and with which technologies and mechanisms to solve them.

In the presentation, all teams presented their results. As a result, the Grand Prize was awarded to "a proposal for human resource education using AR technology" to encourage foreign human resources to transcend language barriers and play an active role.Mr. Konishi commented, "It is wonderful to see the ability of students to find their own conclusions from various issues and reach them on their own.Mr. Hideo Yokoyama, Senior Specialist at BIPROGY, said, "I hope that the students who participated in the seminar today will gain the perspective that problems that they cannot solve on their own can be solved with the help of others, and that society can be improved by using a little ingenuity with the help of IT.Please use today's opportunity for the next opportunity," he critiqued.Prof. Nakaguchi and Dr. Kazuki Maenoh of the Future Environment Lab also commented, "Workshops such as this one, in which participants from different departments and grades of students, as well as from companies, closely participate, are extremely rare and valuable.I hope that students will enjoy solving problems on difficult topics," he commented.Students commented, "It was a great learning experience to experience the process of tackling a problem with no answer," "Various ideas came to me more than I expected, and I was impressed by some of the great ideas I saw in other teams' presentations.

The "Future Environment Lab" is an industry-academia collaboration where leading researchers from BIPROGY and faculty members from KCGI and KCG work together with students with fresh ideas to promote joint projects. We believe that "knowing what technologies exist in the world will give you ideas," and that "the ability to give shape to ideas also improves with training." We provide students with opportunities to view things from various perspectives and gain experience in creating new things by themselves that do not yet exist.
