The KCG Group—which includes Kyoto College of Graduate Studies in Information Science (KCGI) and Kyoto Computer College (KCG)—signed a cooperation agreement on Friday, December 15, 2023, with CMC, a major ICT company that operates CMC University in Vietnam, with the aim of collaborating on the education and development of highly skilled professionals in Japan and Vietnam.The signing ceremony, held at the KCGI Kyoto Main Campus (Hyakumanben), was attended by KCG Group representatives including Chairman and President Wataru Hasegawa and KCGI Vice President Yoichi Terashita, as well as CMC representatives including Chairman and President Nguyen Trung Chinh,Nguyen Quoc Binh, President of CMC University, among others. Chairman and President Hasegawa and Chairman and President Chinh signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).The KCG Group is actively working to build cooperative relationships with universities, educational institutions, and companies around the world.
CMC is Vietnam’s second-largest ICT company, and CMC University, a subsidiary of the group, opened in 2022 as “Vietnam’s first digital university model,” having fully digitized its curriculum, learning environment, and administrative operations.CMC University signed an inter-university exchange agreement with KCGI and KCG in 2022.President Binn is a former professor and former vice president at KCGI.
Through this agreement, KCGI and KCG will strengthen their existing cooperative relationship with CMC University and share their experience regarding educational and management models for private educational institutions with CMC.We plan to implement exchange programs, credit recognition, and faculty exchanges, among other initiatives.In addition, CMC has decided to give priority in hiring KCGI and KCG graduates at CMC Japan (a subsidiary of CMC) in Japan and Vietnam.
Ahead of the signing ceremony on the afternoon of December 15, seven representatives from the CMC Group, including Chairman and President Chin, visited the KCG Kyoto Station Campus.We observed classes and toured the KCG Archives.Afterward, at the KCGI Hyakumanben Campus, we attended a mini piano concert by renowned pianist Kyoko Takawa, a KCGI professor, in the auditorium of the new school building, which had just been completed in 2022.
At the signing ceremony, Chairman and President Hasegawa said, “The KCG Group is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.”Our university offers IT education in a variety of fields, including automotive control, healthcare, marine science, agriculture, and voice acting, and we plan to expand our IT education programs into other fields in the future."The KCG Group aims to continue pursuing cutting-edge IT education," he said in his remarks.In response, Chairman and President Chin stated, “This year marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of CMC Corporation in 1990.”It's exactly half of KCG."I hope that the KCG Group and the CMC Group will continue to grow together in the future," he said.
On the following day, Saturday the 16th, the “Japan-Vietnam Business Forum,” organized and co-hosted by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, was held at the Hotel New Otani in Akasaka, Tokyo, with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in attendance.At the ceremony, the KCG Group and CMC unveiled the signed Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).
Since its founding, the KCG Group has been actively working to build a global educational network.In particular, since KCGI opened in 2004, it has successively concluded academic exchange agreements with universities in China, South Korea, the Czech Republic, and Italy.In Vietnam, since 2020, we have established partnerships with Hue University (HU), Da Nang University (UD), and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) in 2020, and with Fenicaa University (PU), CMC University, and Thang Long University (TLU) in 2022.The company is also expanding its collaboration with local businesses. In 2022, it signed a cooperation agreement with VTI Education—a subsidiary of the VTI Group, a major offshore development firm, that operates IT education-related businesses in the country—to promote the development of IT talent there.
