On May 8 and 9, 2025, 11 students and faculty members from the Technological University of Monterrey, Mexico, visited the Kyoto Computer and Graphic Institute (KCGI).The students toured the KCGI Hyakumanben Campus, which is equipped with the latest facilities, and attended a lecture on "Character Design" at the Kyoto Ekimae Satellite.
The purpose of this visit to Japan is to provide digital art students with an international experience and to acquire knowledge and methods to broaden their perspectives and enhance their expressive abilities.In the lectures at KCGI, the students worked on illustrations using LCD tablets and received a lot of stimulation from feedback from faculty members with a wealth of experience.Students commented, "Being told that my style is acceptable in Japan and that I have the potential to succeed has motivated me to work harder and continue my studies.
The Universidad Tecnológica de Monterrey is one of the leading universities in Latin America with approximately 60,000 students and multiple campuses throughout Mexico.KCGI has specializations in IT Manga/Animation and IT Entertainment, and students can learn about the Japanese content industry, etc., and can complete their studies in English only.It is hoped that this visit will be the beginning of future collaboration between KCGI and the school.
The students stayed in Japan for eight days.In addition to the visit to KCGI, the students experienced Japanese culture in Tokyo and Kyoto, and spent many fulfilling days there.
