On June 12, 2026, Kyoto College of Computer Science and Information Technology (KCGI), part of the Information University Educational Corporation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ATMAE(The Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering), a U.S.-based accreditation body for higher education in technology, management, and applied engineering (a third-party organization that objectively reviews and evaluates whether the education and research provided by higher education institutions, such as universities, meet certain standards), and established the “ATMAE Japan Accreditation Alliance (ATMAE JAA; Chair: Professor Sanford Gold, KCGI).”
The ceremony marking the signing of the MOU and the establishment of ATMAE JAA was held online, with approximately 30 participants, including board members and faculty from both KCGI and ATMAE.KCGI stated, “Our university has welcomed many international students from around the world and has been promoting practical IT education, including lectures taught in English.”"We are very pleased that the establishment of ATMAE JAA will make it possible to implement U.S.-style democratic accreditation and quality assurance in education across Asia," said a representative from ATMAE. "Accreditation is most valuable when it serves as a framework that enables educational institutions to reflect on their practices, pursue improvements, and be accountable for their results."Comments were made such as, “This partnership has been carefully and steadily built with the aim of supporting educational institutions, improving the quality of educational programs, and creating value for students and employers.”
