The Kyoto Computer Guraduate Institute of Informatics (KCGI) and Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) held the "Cello & Piano Duo Concert" Part 1 and Part 2 on November 21, 2025 (Friday) at the Main Hall on the 6th floor of KCGI Kyoto Ekimae Satellite and KCG Kyoto Ekimae School, featuring renowned cello player Ms. Shoko Fukutomi, who also teaches at Tokyo University of the Arts, and KCGI Professor and internationally renowned pianist Kyoko Tagawa.In the second part, all those who understand and cooperate with the educational activities of the University are also invited.On a day at the height of the autumn season, students and invited guests enjoyed the performances of two master musicians who are active in Japan and abroad.
After graduating from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music High School of Music and Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Fukutomi received his doctorate in music from the same university.He completed his studies at the Berlin University of the Arts.He has received many awards, including the first prize at the International Music Competition in Rome, the highest prize in the duo category at the European International Music Competition, the Encouragement Prize at the Osaka Cultural Festival in 2019, and the Encouragement Prize at the Music Critic's Club Awards.In addition to his activities as a cellist, he gives lessons and workshops using his own research theme, "physical methods for performers." He is currently a member of Ensemble Kujoyama and a part-time lecturer at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and Kyoto City University of Arts.
Professor Tagawa graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts with a Bachelor of Music (M.A.: Music) and from the Karl Maria von Weber University of Music and Performing Arts, Dresden, Germany.With a wide repertoire ranging from baroque to modern and contemporary music, she has given numerous solo recitals in Japan and abroad, and is active in many other fields, including performing with orchestras and chamber music.He is also known for his successful "Complete Beethoven Piano Sonata Concerts" (2009-2011).He teaches "Introduction to Music" at KCGI.
