KCGI Degree Conferral Ceremony and KCG Graduation Ceremony for Spring Semester 2025

Kyoto Computer Guraduate Institute of Informatics (KCGI) and Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) held their spring semester 2025 degree conferment and graduation ceremonies on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the 6th floor main hall of KCGI Kyoto Ekimae Satellite, KCG Kyoto Ekimae Campus.As the digitalization of society progresses at a high level and there is a demand for more talented people in the IT field, graduates and alumni who have acquired advanced skills and a wealth of knowledge have left the school with overflowing confidence and hope.Congratulations to all of you!We sincerely wish you the best in your future endeavors.

On a beautiful autumn day with a hint of heat, many alumni and their parents gathered in the main hall.The ceremony was streamed online for the benefit of KCGI Sapporo and Tokyo Satellite alumni and others.

President Yoichi Terashita presented the diploma of "Master of Information Technology (Professional)" to the representative of KCGI graduates, and Noboru Takahiro, Principal of Rakuhoku School, presented the diploma and the certificate of conferral of the title of "Advanced Professional or Specialist" to the representative of KCGI graduates.Next, the graduates who had achieved outstanding academic and research results and were selected for the Grand Prize, Excellence Award, and Outstanding Project Award were presented with certificates, commemorative gifts, and other prizes.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Wataru Hasegawa, President of KCGI/KCG/Kyoto College of General Motors (KCGM), noted, "The IT field continues to make tremendous progress and development, and there is an ever-greater demand for highly skilled professionals with solid skills and international applications.If you have studied hard at our university, you will be able to respond quickly to the evolution of information technology and the problems that accompany it, and will always be ahead of the times.I hope that you will use the knowledge and skills you have acquired to further enhance your skills after entering the workforce and contribute to the creation of a better world," he encouraged.You are a member of the KCG family, a network of more than 50,000 alumni and alumnae.When you enter the workforce, there are always opportunities to meet your seniors.At that time, confidently identify yourself by saying, "I am a junior," and solidify this by building good relationships.He urged the participants to value not only the horizontal relationships among alumni and graduates, but also the vertical relationships among senior and junior alumni.In April of this year, the name of the governing body of Kyoto University of Information Science and Technology was changed to "School Corporation Information University.The corporate name is appropriate for the KCG Group, a leader in information education in Japan.The history, achievements, and reputation of our group, which is now approaching its 100th anniversary, are and will continue to be built upon thanks to the efforts of our seniors and you.I sincerely wish you all good health and success in your future endeavors," he said in his farewell address.

In his address, President Terashita said, "What you have acquired at this university are specialized theories and technologies related to IT and AI.These are the core technologies that will form the foundation for the future development of human society.You will also have a mission to support the development of human society," he said, noting the negative aspects that accompany technological progress.I hope that those of you who will be active in the world of the latest IT and AI technologies in the future will have the ability to be critical about whether these technologies will be used for the welfare of mankind or for the exact opposite purpose.You will go out into the world as competent engineers, but please do not become solely technical, and cultivate the ability to make accurate observations as well," he requested.He added, "I believe that the activities of each and every one of you in your respective fields will be a major force in improving the reputation of our university in society.

On behalf of the graduates and alumni, Mr. Yang from KCGI's Graduate School of Applied Information Technology said, "Over the past two years, I have deepened my knowledge of applied IT technology through classes and research projects, and I have grown through participating in various practical activities and solving problems.Each of us has his or her own path ahead, but the knowledge we gain, the way of thinking we acquire, and the perseverance we cultivate at this university will surely become the strength that will support our future.I believe that our efforts will not be in vain and that each of us can create a wonderful future on our own," he said in his graduation address.

At the end, all the attendees sang "Hotarunokari" together.After the ceremony, diplomas and degrees were handed to the graduates.

After the ceremony, the celebration was moved to RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto, where the graduation party was held.Graduates and alumni formed a circle around faculty members and discussed memories of their student life and their dreams for the future.The venue was filled with smiles and cheers as prizes provided by sponsors were raffled off.
